@SB - IMO, your post is profoundly wrong, on multiple levels.

I agree that a decision needs to be made, as it surely will be.

I do not know whether these charges should be laid. Further, AFAIK, the publicly available information does not permit such a judgment to be made.

I certainly know that there is insufficient information for us to say

PS - FTFY.

Most in the world know or should know that he's a pompous prat, but perhaps you might reflect on the multiple difficulties with -

In conclusion: FFS - There's no place for an old fashioned witch hunt.
Eh, excuse a combination of me being lazy with my English and my fingers being fat on my phone.
Let me rewrite it

A decision needs to be made, the right charges then would need to be laid, a conviction needs to be entered into (thanks). Then and only then, he will be guilty of being more than a pompous prat, what ever happens his church will roll on unlikely to be diminished in a suitable way, the truly guilty party, the church, will escape.

Goodbye, Anthony Foster, and thank you.

Independent Australia article.

Anthony was always willing to take the hits for victims and survivors while also encouraging them to find their own voice in the knowledge that truth finds the real eloquence in words.
So often he stood in the line of fire, not speaking over others but speaking up with others, like the time he and Chrissie paid their own way to Rome to support survivors when George Pell gave evidence by video to the Royal Commission, citing he was too ill to travel in person to Australia.
Disarmingly and brutally honest about the nature of crimes against their own and other children, they made one likewise determined not to euphemise the facts or euthanise the truth.

Vale Anthony. I will never forget when he was being interviewed. He was so able to communicate with words and language how betrayed he was by the church and how disappointed he was in the churches doing all they could to avoid and hide the problem.

Peter Fitzsimons in the Fairfax media:

Charging the cardinal is a tiny part of the story

Quote:
I genuinely have no firm view as to the likely guilt or innocence of Cardinal George Pell on the grave charges of child sexual abuse levelled against him, and do not seek to pre-judge the legal process in any way.

But whatever happens in his particular case, it is worth noting the accolades coming Australia's way for the fact that the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse begun by the Gillard government has accomplished so much in turning a much-needed spotlight onto the horrors of rampant sexual abuse by the Catholic clergy over the decades.

The charges brought against Cardinal Pell, the highest-ranked Catholic ever so charged, have brought world attention to the fact that – as pointed out by Gold Walkley-winning journalist Joanne McCarthy, whose work was responsible for it – we are the only country in the world that gone to the level of a national royal commission in examining Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

It has been inspirational for myriad other abuse survivors around the world, with, for example, the highly influential US-based Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) noting, its "hope that the Australian government's long and extensive investigation into institutional abuse inspires other countries to follow in their footsteps and hold similar hearings".

Again, I say, take a bow, Joanne McCarthy and Julia Gillard and all those who have had the courage to step up. Pell is only a tiny part of the whole story, but it is a victory for the law, and for abuse survivors worldwide, that even so powerful a priest can have those charges tested in a court of law.
