Maybe he got time off for bad behaviour?

Re: Baa Baa Barnarby

Why not simply extend (quite logically) the PS probity rules to include these other servants of the public?

Of course, a bit of lobbying practice (gifts and junkets) and stuff like "free house for poor Barnyard" might need to stop.

Colloquially, 'Barnaby's Bar'.

Re: Baa Baa Barnarby

This week of leave... I'm wondering if it perhaps presages a sudden health problem, and (comparatively) dignified exit.

Certainly, it seems the Murdoch press are keen to see him off.

The Ethics Centre: LOOPHOLES AND LIES. THE REAL SCANDAL OF BARNABY JOYCE

Quote:
If there is public scandal in connection with Barnaby Joyce, then it has nothing to do with the fact that the Deputy Prime Minister had an affair with a media adviser who now bears his child. That is a ‘private’ scandal – even though it has damaged a cast of thousands – especially Mr Joyce’s devastated wife and children. The public scandal arises out of two other quite different things. First, is the way in which tax-payer funded staffing positions are alleged to have been used for the convenience of Mr Joyce, his lover and the political fortunes of a government that would have suffered electoral misfortune had the public known of Mr Joyce’s affair prior to last year’s New England bye-election. Others are investigating the details around these and other arrangements made to help Mr Joyce manage the consequences of his choices. Second – and I think by far the worst – has been the scandalous behaviour by the Turnbull ministry in its cynical manipulation of language to distort the plain meaning of the Ministerial Code of Conduct.

Re: Baa Baa Barnarby

At first I believed this was just another demonstration of the deep and abiding love of the media for a grubby little story, especially if a tall poppy can be brought down in the process.

However, for once, it has thrown up some useful revelations and some further questions which will probably not be addressed, like these:

What qualifications does Ms Campion have which are worth $190,000 PA? How many other staffers in that ivory tower are on similar salary packages and do we need them all? Remember that nearly all Government departments have been told to rein in expenses. Has anyone else noticed that our Prime Minister has, once again, waffled and wandered on this issue and only taken action, albeit uselessly, when forced into a corner? Sorry, Malcolm, but we need a leader here and you just aren't it. Does Bill Shorten deserve the run of free kicks he seems to be getting which will, in all probability, hand him a totally undeserved win at the next election? two dogs, wadaye liked this post #159 16th February 2018, 04:31 PM Blue Lightning "Mr Charles Darwin had the gall to ask" Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: Sydney Posts: 6,144 Re: Baa Baa Barnarby Beyond bizarre - Nationals MPs in open revolt over Malcolm Turnbull's sex ban Quote: Maverick MP George Christensen became the latest National to criticise the move on Friday, claiming no one cares about "who is shagging who" in Canberra."The bonk ban is bonkers," he said. For Malcolm, his speech to Barnaby is not about wrongdoing, but about getting caught. Malcolm continues to fail to deal with the corruption issue and speaks merely as a person on the street when he gives his finger wagging you got caught exhortations.
