Nothing on religion in the "Typical Australian" data released by the ABS today.

We will have to wait 'til 27th June for data on Religious Affiliation.
Sad face.

Burden of proof is the obligation on somebody presenting a claim to provide evidence to support its truth (a warrant). Once evidence has been presented, it is up to any opposing "side" to show the evidence presented is not adequate. If claims were accepted without warrants, then every claim could simultaneously be claimed to be true.

History isn't written by the victors. It's written by the people with the time machines.

Of course it could just mean that the typical Australian is no longer religious.

Ok probably not, but it's a nice thought.

What if 'no religion' decreases?

I can't wait either but i keep expectations low to avoid disappointment.

I'd almost say we need a honeytrap, bogus religion, set up to snare and steer the very silly people, but when I look about me, I think this has already been done.

I do not think that is likely. Some polling that has been done indicates that the irreligious are in the majority in Australia, however due to cultural pressures that doesn't necessarily translate through to the census data.

I think the best example we can use is New Zealand who I believe have the question similar to how we had it in 2016. They saw a jump of the proportion of irreligion from 35% to 42% between 2006 and 2013.
