Agreed loubert. There shouldn't be an out for religious reasons, after all God does not protect his own.

See Abbott is hitting anti vaxers in the hip pocket nerve.
I'm not one, but see this simply as a populist cover up that will deprive some children in other areas.

There's no doubt it's populist, Abbott's a politician before anything else, but as for depriving children in other areas, how so? Unless you mean that the children of the anti-vaxxers will miss out on things that children of the vaccinated will get due to less money, and that's purely a selfish decision on the part of their parents.

Personally if I was making the decisions I would simply make it make a requirement to attend any public accessible institution, so child care, school, camps etc etc, but I'm not in charge so that's not my decision to make.

Abbott thinks that religious woo is better than other people's woo.
The special privilege of religion strikes again.

Nice cartoon series, since anti vaxers don't like science maybe a cartoon will be more palatable for them?

As to Abbot, he is only doing this to cut welfare costs that little bit more and by excluding religious woo he makes a mockery of the whole issue IMO.

That link is so awesome. I don't know if every bit of it true, some of it appears to be subjective, but it is well worth a read, even if only for the comic relief of laughing at morons.

I have always believed anti-vaxxer parents should have their medicare levy set to 10%, rather than having benefits removed. That way they can contribute to the care of the their children and everyone else who falls ill because of their "choice."

It would suddenly make the stereotype of the north shore mummy* whose precious little Johnny shouldn't be vaccinated because blah blah blah reasons, hurt substantially when they try to dodge participating in society.

*I am a North Shore boy and fully vaccinated.
