In a recent webinar with Family Voice Australia, Kevin Andrews (Liberal Party Back Bencher) indicated that “compromise had been reached” regarding the proposed Religious Discrimination Bill, and that it would be introduced into the Parliament “shortly”.

Mr. Andrews revealed that Attorney-General Christian Porter’s new bill was a “compromise in some regards” after the first and second exposure drafts were widely criticised.

Mr. Andrews stated that “if enacted, it would be a huge step in terms of protecting freedom of religion in Australia.” In reality, the bill previously proposed would enshrine the ability of religious organisations to discriminate into law. The Atheist Foundation of Australia believes this in antithetical to a modern, secular, inclusive, and accepting society.
