The Atheist Foundation of Australia is excited to announce that Lawrence Leung and Kylie Sturgess will co-host the 2012 Global Atheist Convention.
Kylie Sturgess, an award-winning educator, writer and researcher, specialises in the study of paranormal beliefs. She will be returning as Master of Ceremonies off the back of her crowd pleasing performance as MC in 2010.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of an important global effort” Kylie said regarding the event.
“It’s an event that encourages everyone who is intrigued by atheism to exchange ideas, collaborate, work towards building communities and learn. As an educator, an Australian and a woman, I am proud to see that the discussions and debates will continue in 2012.”
Joining Kylie as co-MC will be writer and multi award-winning stand-up comedian Lawrence Leung. Lawrence is well known amongst the atheist community as creator of the sceptically-enhanced comedy documentary series “Lawrence Leung’s Unbelievable” (ABC1) and the AFI-nominated comedy TV series “Choose Your Own Adventure” (ABC1).
Lawrence studied psychology at the University of Melbourne and is fascinated by deception, self-delusions and why people believe strange things. He has designed magic illusions for theatre shows and once solved a Rubik’s Cube in 49 seconds while skydiving.

Already, nine new speakers have been added to the program since the announcement was made that the “Four Horsemen” were headlining the event just under three months ago. Annie-Laurie Gaylor, Eugenie Scott and Lawrence Krauss include some of the international names who will be appearing at the Global Atheist Convention for the first time.
More speakers will be announced on Facebook and Twitter over the coming weeks.
