Atheist Alliance International is pleased to announce the launch of Atheist Census, a global project to count and collect information on the world’s atheists, agnostics, freethinkers etc. We are excited about gathering information on the number of non-religious people there are in various countries. We hope you will be counted!
While truth and fair public policy are not determined by popularity, demonstrating a strong presence will make it clear that atheists are a growing demographic, helping us work towards a secular world. We also hope it will provide encouragement to those in countries where atheists are oppressed.

This is a long term project, so make sure you check in with Atheist Census periodically and encourage others to contribute.

The Atheist Census website www.atheistcensus.com launched by Atheist Alliance International (AAI) has come under a DoS (Denial of Service) attack which has shut down the site. Atheist Census is a global project to count and record information on the world’s atheists. The attack happened in less than 24 hours after the launch and presumably was in response to the strong interest in the site.
This is the second significant electronic attack on atheism we are aware of, the first being a DDoS attack on the 2010 Global Atheist Convention website.
David Nicholls, President of the Atheist Foundation of Australia said. “One would have to assume that unscrupulous religious persons must be in panic mode about the growing freethinking movement which is sending their membership into steep decline.”
AAI is working to manage the attack and get the Atheist Census website up and running as soon as possible.
