Celebrating curiosity and reason with an explosion of science, stand-up comedy and musical cameos, Cosmic Shambles LIVE is a clever UK variety show like no other! Host Robin Ince is joined by a cast of world leading scientists, comedians and performers as Cosmic Shambles LIVE synthesises in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth during March/April 2017.

A multiple award winning comedian and science populariser, Robin Ince is best known for co-hosting the smash hit, Sony Award and Rose D’Or winning BBC Radio 4 and podcast series, The Infinite Monkey Cage, with Professor Brian Cox. He’ll be joined by comedian Josie Long, who’s appeared in Skins, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Thank God You’re Here. The pair are also known for their co-hosting of popular podcast Book Shambles.

Host Robin Ince says of the tour:

"When I started putting together insane variety bills of science, comedy and music in London 12 years ago with people such as the young Tim Minchin and Richard Dawkins, I always wanted to take it beyond the UK. It’s taken some time, but finally we are getting to Australia and New Zealand. I am very pleased it is with some of the brilliant acts who have been there since the beginning including my excellent shambles friend Josie Long. Be prepared for a song, a joke and something perplexing with a Möbius strip."

Also heading over from the UK are Dr Helen Czerski, a regular landmark series science presenter for the BBC, and oceanographer and physicist; Sky at Night’s Professor Lucie Green, one of the most respected solar scientists in the world; and Matt Parker, a stand-up comic and mathematician known for Festival of the Spoken Nerd, and his appearances on Numberphile and the Discovery Channel.

As this brilliant cast travel across Australia, many local acts and scientists will join them on stage offering audiences a unique experience every night. With local music favourites jumping in on the act, each show will be packed with surprises and secret guests…

Funky sounds! Nerdy wonders! Dazzling spreadsheets! Confused earthworms! And everything in between. Cosmic Shambles LIVE will make you laugh and make you think.

The producers, Trunkman Productions, are known for bringing science to life with The Incomplete Map of the Cosmic Genome (App), The Quest For Wonder (Web series), Book Shambles (Podcast), and The Infinite Monkey Cage videos, as well as multiple live shows.

Trent Burton from Trunkman Productions has this to say about the tour:

"We’re delighted to be heading to Australia, and New Zealand, with Cosmic Shambles LIVE. At Trunkman we’ve spent the past decade or so here in the UK chaotically blending science and entertainment on screen, radio and stage, working with our friends like Robin and the others involved in this tour, and we’re looking forward to bringing that 'chaos of delight’, as Charles Darwin himself once said, on tour. Trunkman Productions began its life 15 years ago in Western Australia and so it’s exciting to be coming back with a great show like this."

Part proceeds from Cosmic Shambles LIVE will go to charities, including Doctors Without Borders.
